Our biweekly newsletter is your source for travel inspiration from Virtuoso’s editorial team.

The January cover of Virtuoso, The Magazine shows a gray sod-roofed hut in Iceland labeled with the word “pizza.” The cover line reads “Unexpected Europe.”

New year, new trips.

The January/February issue of Virtuoso, The Magazine is all about those small, unforgettable moments that make up the best trips – represented on our cover by Arnarbaer, a “pizza hut” in remote Snaefellsbaer, Iceland (population 1,700). Read about our art director’s Iceland circumnavigation below, plus find what’s new in a North American ski hot spot, the story of a very healing trip to the Turks and Caicos, and packing tips from chef Eric Ripert.

CHECKING IN
Chef Eric Ripert, wearing chef’s whites and sitting at a restaurant table, smiles and looks off-camera.

Chef Eric Ripert shares what he’s been loving lately.

Packing: For me, it’s not the accessories I pack, it’s the way I pack. I have a Tumi carry-on where I put my shirts and suit, folded in three. When I arrive, there are no wrinkles.

Watching: Godfather of Harlem. It’s about the Black Mafia and how it connected with the Italian Mafia for control of Harlem.

Drinking: Cayman Spirits Co. rum. For their Seven Fathoms Premium rum, they take the casks, put them in the ocean, and let them roll with the current to age.

Visiting: The Cayman Islands. And then Paris for a week, to eat and drink.

OUTBOUND

Our new favorite workday distraction. This Korean lip tint is better than Dior’s, according to Virtuoso, The Magazine’s design director Melanie Fowler. Rumors are flying about the next season of The White Lotus. We can finally realize our dream of performing “Dancing Queen” while suspended over the Swiss Alps. Upgrade future beach trips with designer Sarah-Jane Clarke’s Halcyon House collab.
